Welcome to Matahui Distillery, where every sip tells a story of nature’s bounty and craftsmanship. Our commitment to small-batch production means each bottle is a labour of love; hand-crafted in our micro distillery in the heart of rural Bay of Plenty.
Now, we invite you to experience our boutique distillery first-hand. Embark on a journey through our unique gins and liqueurs with two specially curated experiences, all within the span of an enjoyable hour.
What will you experience?
Distillery & Garden Tour: 30 mins
The first experience unfolds in the heart of Matahui—the permaculture garden. We grow most of our botanicals on-site ensuring sustainability and freshness. Here, we'll introduce you to the botanicals that give our gins and liqueurs their distinct flavors.
Next, the adventure continues in the Flavour Lab. Our Master Distiller Paul will offer an exclusive look into the distillation process and explain how to create a great-tasting gin.
Guided Gin Tasting: 30 mins
Now you have completed the distillery tour it’s time for something new. Our next experience takes place at the Cellar Door, and is a guided tasting of our gins and liqueurs. Here you will get to sample the Matahui Distillery range through a complimentary tasting.
You’ll learn the best ways to serve gin, test out how different garnishes alter the flavour and how to use liqueurs to make cocktails.
You will have the opportunity to get 10% off at our cellar door.
When do the experiences take place?
Mark your calendars, our Gin Distillery Tour + Gin Tasting experiences take place on the following days. The two experiences together take 1 hour, your ticket automatically includes access to both.

The grounds are lovely, and walking around the planted areas really inspires you to get planting in your own back yard! We thoroughly enjoyed tasting the different essences at the start of the tour (definitely give Oyster Mushroom a try - You will be surprised!).
The tour was informative and now we really want to come back a do a gin making course.
