Matahui Distillery and the Flavours of Plenty Festival are bringing you not one, but two amazing events that celebrate the incredible produce of Te Moana A Toi. The first event is a hands-on, two-hour workshop where you’ll create your very own Bay of Plenty-inspired gin.
The second event is the Gin Lab Awards, taking place on Saturday, 12th April. Join us as we announce the winners of the best festival gin, along with two other awards showcasing the top creations from our gin-making workshops.

On Saturday 12th April, join fellow gin enthusiasts for Matahui Distillery’s inaugural Flavours of Plenty Festival Gin Lab Awards Evening.
Together, we’ll celebrate and taste the best gins crafted during the festival’s Gin Labs, along with two other awards showcasing the top creations from our other gin-making workshops this year.
Awards to be annouced:
- Best Flavours of Plenty Inspired Gin – celebrating the most outstanding festival gin.
- Best Pink Gin – recognising the most vibrant and creative pink gin.
- Best Traditional Gin – the best traditional gin.
Enjoy a complimentary gin and tonic on arrival, sample the unique artisan gins created during the Gin Labs, and indulge in gin-inspired canapés before the winners are revealed.
Tickets are limited to just 50 people so be quick or they will be gone faster than a perfectly chilled G&T on a summer’s day

Calling all gin enthusiasts! Join us for a two-hour, hands-on Gin Lab workshop, where you’ll craft your own 500ml bottle of bespoke gin, guided by Matahui’s master distiller, Paul Horak.
Using premium botanicals sourced from the Bay of Plenty, you’ll learn the art of distillation and blend a gin that’s uniquely yours.
But that’s not all—every gin created in this exclusive series of workshops will be entered into the Flavours of Plenty Gin Lab Awards. Will your gin take home the top prize?
