In Italy, sweet liqueurs like limoncello are traditionally sipped after meals as an aid to digestion. At Matahui Distillery, we honour this tradition by hand-crafting our “cellos” meticulously in small batches using time-tested methods that bring out intense, delicious flavours.

The Process:
We use a superb variety of red grapefruit available in New Zealand, picking fresh fruit at perfect ripeness to maximise the aromatic oil content in the zest. This attention to timing and quality delivers a liqueur with deep, pure grapefruit flavour that perfectly balances sweetness with the floral and zesty notes from the skins.

Tasting Notes: Intense red grapefruit zest on the nose, balanced sweetness with natural fruit complexity, floral notes from the citrus oils, clean refreshing finish without bitterness.

Serving Suggestions:
Serve chilled neat or over ice as a digestivo. No need to serve from the freezer—refrigerator temperature is ideal. Add to cocktails for a burst of sophisticated citrus flavour, or top with prosecco for an elegant aperitif.

Naturally Crafted:
Completely natural with no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives. Like fine wine, flavours may evolve with age. Store in a dark cupboard or refrigerator to maintain optimal freshness.
